Detail

I went on a hunt to take a detail picture of anything around me and stumbled across bunnies in the parking lot, around my school. I figured they would be more fun to take pictures of rather than macro shots of bugs, grass, or anything else I ran into on my way to get this picture. I really liked the different colors in the fur of the bunny and the whiskers and eye detail made me pretty happy too. I decided to do a close crop around the eye and where the different colors in the fur were most prominent for a more detailed shot.

Point and Shoot Camera

I recently got back from taking wildlife photos with my point and shoot camera and besides not having a tripod, I was a little disappointed with my pictures even when I managed to find something to stabilize my camera on top of. I decided to look up some tips for point and shoot cameras to get better photography.
I was comparing one of my bison pictures to one that someone else took with a point and shoot camera and I was jealous with the clarity they got. Granted I was really zoomed in for my bison so that contibutes to the noise and my ISO was about 400 because of the cloudy day.
I learned that for non moving subjects I should have been at ISO 100 and landscape mode would have helped with a slow shutter speed to help focus on my subject more. I learned some small tips from this website: http://www.shutterbug.com/content/point-shoot-wildlife-photography-point-and-shoot-camera

Macro

I recently came upon a rock pathway and played around with my macro settings. I tried to see what was the best distance to get the closest shot without being blurry. I really liked the colors in the different stones or pebbles on the ground and I just edited it a tiny bit to bring out the colors more and set some contrast since it was a bright day.

Critique

Camera: Nikon Coolpix L810
Shutter Speed: 1/1250 sec.
F-Stop: f/3.1
ISO: 80
Focal length: 4mm
Comments: I liked that I caught the mule's ears forward, but I wish I could show how tall he was if he was standing next to something small to compare to. I used black and white since I was dealing with lighting issues and I wish he wasn't so dark on one side.
Comments: I love the color of the sunset, I wish it was a little more focused on the clouds in different colors. I also wished I could have made the outlines of the horses a tad bit softer looking to fit with the background.

 Camera: Nikon Coolpix L810
Shutter Speed: 1/160 sec.
ISO: 80
F-Stop: f/13.1
Focal length: 12mm
Tripod: yes
Comments: I really enjoy the picture and like that the horse is in focus. I hate that the picture was grainy and not as sharp as I would like, but I couldn't help my camera since it won't focus really sharp when I am on continuous.

Camera: Android Phone
Comments: The shadows don't seem too harsh on the horses, but its a little harsh on Erin. I do love that the horses are in sync looking the same way and closing their eyes.

Camera: Fujifilm finepix S4250
Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec.
ISO: 64
F-Stop: f/5.3
Focal length: 50mm
Tripod: Yes
Comments: I like the sidelight in the picture, wish the sun had shone more on the eye a little, so the eye could be more in focus. Couldn't decide if the picture looks weird without reins to the bridle or not.

I recently went to the BLS over break and got some more shots of horses. I ran across a mare and its foal and decided to take a shot of them together and I was lucky enough to catch both of their ears up and forward.
My original picture was blown out and bright in the background from the doorway and they were a little grainy, but I couldn't help the lighting since it was inside the barn. There was also some distracting red bars I took out so the focus could be on the foal and mare.
This was my edited version of the picture after cropping and trying to fix the saturation and blown out background, but I'm still not happy with the blown out light in the background and have been trying to figure out how to fix it with the brush tool.

The black and white version was a possibility because of all the lighting and color issues, but i'm still not sure if I like the picture black and white or if I like the color on the mare and foal. Also there is some weird steaks of light in the background of the doorway that I don't know how they got there or how to get rid of them.
